Aluminum Hurricane Panels

I really like the new 24 gauge "rolled edge" steel hurricane panels instead of aluminum hurricane panels. They are stronger than aluminum hurricane panels. The biggest thing is that they don't have the sharp edges that cut your hands. The aluminum hurricane panels tend to have a sharp edge that you can cut yourself on. Aluminum hurricane panels can also be more expensive than the rolled edge lightweight steel hurricane panel. Storm panels cost less than accordion shutters and they can be installed so you hardly know they are there by using just plain stainless steel screws that can be painted and tightened flush to blend in with the home. Another good quality of the steel hurricane panels is that the are somewhat flexible and very easy to install, unlike aluminum hurricane panels as they tend to be rigid and sometimes difficult to place over the screws
